Alright…I’ve spent a lot of time with Coach Gale Bernhardt (pictured on the right) over this past week looking at the rest of my season, and specifically the 12 week ramp up to the Vancouver Half Ironman on July 3. … Continue reading
Here we (/I) go!
Well according to Iron Dad I have been noticeably absent from Blogger-land lately, and by association, from IronTraining. The former I certainly admit to. I cannot plead guilty to the latter however, as I have been slowly reacquainting myself with the IronLifestyle over … Continue reading

Testing completed…Ironman goals updated
Interesting week, with the first bike and run tests of the new season completed…and very happy with how I executed them both…particularly considering that I haven’t done a maximal speed test in quite some time…so time to re-evaluate my training … Continue reading

Off-season: Long and slow, or Short and fast?
For the off-season Long and Slow seems to be fading out…Short and Fast seems to be fading in. Used to be that all you read about was that the off season was for recovery and building a base with long and slow … Continue reading
New reason to swim faster
I just found a new and compelling reason to swim faster. I was listening to an Endurance Nation webinar the other day while spinning off a few calories on the trainer…it was dealing with the pacing and power strategy on the bike … Continue reading

How to swim faster
Alright. I think that I’m done with ‘analysing’ the swim goal thing for the moment. Coach Dinah and I spent an hour and change with the stopwatch to satisfy my ‘number craving’…I think that she bought a stopwatch specifically to … Continue reading

Running speed: picking it up a bit
As part of a 40 minute run, I included a hilly 5K route that I have measured out by GPS from our local bar to home…okay, don’t ask, don’t tell…in 27 minutes…not all out, average 143HR, so mid Z3, and ‘steady’…HR higher going up … Continue reading

Ah, the marathon at the end of the Ironman…a 26.2 mile run, after a 2.4 mile swim and 112 mile bike ride…what a whacked idea that is to start off with…who can forget Julie Moss…nobody that watched her: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VbWsQMabczM Ooouch. … Continue reading

Swim goals updated: 1:30/100 yards…once
In taking a closer look at my swimming goal of 1:15 for the 2.4 mile Ironman swim, I was looking for intermediate goals for shorter distances. The closest that I found to an equivalency chart was in the Endurance Nation stuff, where … Continue reading

Swimming goal 1:15:00 for 2.4 mile swim
In an earlier Post, I noted that the Endurance Nation speed ‘cutoff’ to not have to swim during the winter was a 1:15:00 Ironman swim…well, okay, it’s not really presented that way, but the way that I like to think … Continue reading

How fast to go to Hawaii / Dad’s 12 Hour Goal
